Goal #2 - Develop Additional Housing Units
Goal #3 - Develop Endowment
Funded Programs
Goal #4 - Develop Job (EBI) Training Program
Project #1 - Ongoing – Research
During February and March 2004, SCAP forged
new alliances and partnerships with scientists, researchers, program managers, and health professionals at the Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention, United States-Mexico Border Health Association, Farm workers Justice Fund, Yale Center for Interdisciplinary
Research on AIDS, Oregon Health & Science University, National Center for Farm Worker Health, Yakima Valley Farm Workers Clinic,
Washington County Department of Health Services, Oregon Department of Human Services, the California Department of Health Services,
and the University of California, Berkeley.
This latest collaboration lead to the development of an innovative intervention methodology
that will give us to new opportunities to provide effective health services to agricultural workers in need of our services.
In addition
to health care research projects, SCAP is also working to develop a comprehensive behavioral modification homelessness prevention
program, additional education and prevention programs to underserved communities, housing programs to low-income residents, food &
nutrition programs, and interactive programs within the business community.
Project #2 - Ongoing - Housing
Beginning in July 2004,
SCAP will be working with HUD, the California Department of Health Services, and the Stanislaus County Housing, and Support Services
Collaborative to conduct a housing needs assessment survey for Stanislaus County. Upon successful completion of the needs assessment,
SCAP will apply for additional pre-development housing funds to be used to develop low-income housing units for clients.
In January
2005 we secured funding through HUD which will provide the County's first ever dedicated permanent supported housing program for
people
with HIV/AIDS. The 13 new beds are the first in a series of projects under the HALO House umbrella.
Project #3 - August 2005 - Endowed
Programs
Beginning in August 2004, SCAP will begin efforts to implement our long-term comprehensive giving program. The overall goal
will be to lead SCAP towards self-sufficiency. Development of endowed programs will be among our top priorities. Beyond endowed programs,
we will also be expanding our Annual Giving, Planned Giving, and Corporate Giving programs.
Project #4 - Fall 2005 - Job Programs
During the Fall of 2005, SCAP will embark on a path that will combine the resources of local businesses, national organizations, federal and state agencies, with the spirit of Stanislaus County residents - to develop an entrepreneurial business incubator (EBI) that will provide job skills, training, and support services. Participants in the EBI program will develop the skills and tools necessary to secure new employment, or, to develop their own business that will allow them to have the flexibility to work around health challenges, while generating sufficient income to sustain quality of life.
